Counseling Services

Welcome! Take a moment right now to say out loud "I am doing a good thing for myself!"   I see it as a sign of strength and self-awareness that you have found yourself on this page. Whether you are just dipping your toe in the water and exploring what counseling is about or whether you have decided you are ready to make some changes that will help you connect to your true self, you have already taken a step. I offer individual, couples, family, and group counseling, in person or virtually in North Carolina.

Grief and loss

Our environment and broader culture often don't teach us how to deal with transitions, changes, endings, and loss.  Grief and loss can come in many forms, death and non-death.  Loss of relationships, moving homes and changing jobs, the disappointments when things don't work out as we planned, health crises-- all can lead to numbness, inability to move forward, sinking into isolation. Life as we knew it is in the rearview mirror.  Whether it is acknowledging the messages we received about grief and loss or riding the waves of emotions that knock us to our knees, there are healing approaches, process, and rituals that can help us make meaning.

Trauma, depression, anxiety,
and addiction

I believe we as humans do what works-- when we are in pain, our behaviors and choices serve a purpose to alleviate discomfort and suffering. Our role models, our culture and environment, our genetics, and our resources all play a part in how we learn to handle life. You spent your whole life getting to this point and trying to fill the void so recovery is a journey made with connection, support and coping skills.

Navigating life transitions

Life transitions from the teenage years to adulthood, from being partnered to separation and starting over, health shifts and aging all bring a renegotiation of roles and relationships to self, others, and what you picture your life will be. We are affected spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, financially, and meaningfully.  Adapting is necessary but can be frustrating and exhausting- I get it. We can clarify values and explore identities to help you feel more congruent and fulfilled in the direction you choose to take.
